Semi-Flush Ceiling Lights for Low Ceilings

Have you got low ceilings in your house, bungalow or cottage?  Semi-flush ceiling lights will fit closer to the ceiling than pendant ceiling lights with chains or suspensions.  Many ceiling pendant lights and some ceiling chandeliers can be converted to semi-flush by removing the chain suspension. Contemporary Semi-flush ceiling lights are available as are Traditional style semi-flush ceiling lights and modern style semi-flush ceiling lights.

Sometimes there is a cross over between a light fitting that is described as flush fitting and one that is described as semi-flush. Generally speaking a flush ceiling light fitting projects 100mm or less from the ceiling. A semi-flush ceiling light fitting will project further down and is generally suitable for normal height ceilings in a modern house where the pendant ceiling lights with chains hang just a fraction too low.

Very often people have rooms with two ceiling height levels. Or perhaps one ceiling light fitting is over a dining room table and therefore can be allowed to hang lower than would normally be the case, the other needs to be as high up to the ceiling as possible. The same style of light fitting could be used in each case, one with the chain removed and one with the chain left in place so that they both match each other.

Many traditional style semi-flush ceiling lights are available,  even the large medieval type chandeliers can often be converted to semi-flush

Usually the ceiling light fitting will come with the chain attached, once you have ascertained that the light fitting is suitable for flush conversion, it is a reasonably straightforward job for your Electrician to remove the chain and install the light fitting as semi-flush.
